Information from KLM Japan

To passengers departing from Osaka-Kansai airport

Currently, Osaka-Kansai airport is extremely crowded due to the rapid increase in the number of international flights and passengers departing to abroad. In particular, security checkpoint is crowded, and it may take more than 60 minutes to pass through. It is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to your departure. We also recommend that passengers who have already checked in proceed to the security checkpoint as soon as possible. Roads and parking lots around the airport are very crowded during the year-end and New Year's holidays. We recommend that you use public transportation. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Please do not store power banks in overhead bins.
  • Each passenger may carry up to two power banks.
  • Charging power banks using onboard power outlets is not permitted.
  • Please avoid using power banks to charge other devices during the flight.

For more information, please visit the website of MLIT (Japanese only).

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New service at Internet check-in: Scan your passport with your smartphone to save time on departure.

To save time at the airport, KLM and AIR FRANCE launched an option for departing passengers to scan their passport, ID card, etc. to reflect their check-in information when they check in online.

Instead of manually entering passport information as in the past, departing passengers can easily scan it with their smartphone and automatically add their travel document details to the given fields of their check-in information, just as they would be read at an airport check-in machine.

By scanning your passport information in advance, you can enjoy a smooth travel experience by eliminating the need for passport checks at the boarding gate even if you are at the boarding gate directly after online check-in.

Reducing our environmental impact with SAF

KLM and Air France actively participate in the development of SAF (alternative aviation fuel). Although SAF emits the same amount of CO₂ during flight, its total CO₂ impact is at least 65% lower over the entire lifecycle (from production to burning). We also have a Corporate SAF Program for companies that support us in further promoting the use of SAF. Meet our SAF partners who are participating in this program and help us reduce our environmental impact.
